Korea Moving Cost Calculator
Last updated: 2026-06-25
Moving cost is estimated from a base cost (home size = amount of belongings) by move type (DIY / partial / full-service packing), plus distance freight and surcharges for no elevator, ladder lift and peak season.
Example: a ~24-pyeong (~80 m²) full-service move within the same city on a weekday is roughly ₩800,000–₩1,200,000; the real amount depends on belongings, work conditions and the company. This result is a reference estimate.

This result is a market-based reference estimate. The real cost depends on belongings, work conditions and the company, so always confirm with an in-home (on-site) survey.
How to use
- Enter home size — enter your current (or new) home size in pyeong. This sets the amount of belongings.
- Choose distance and type — choose the moving distance (km) and move type (DIY / partial / full-service).
- Add options and view results — tick no elevator, ladder lift or peak season, then calculate to see the quote range and itemized estimate in a table.
How is moving cost calculated?
A Korean moving company quote is made up mainly of a base cost (amount of belongings = home size), distance freight, and extra work / surcharges. The more belongings (the larger the home size), the bigger the truck and crew, so the base cost grows; and the more packing the company handles (full-service), the higher the labor cost.
| Home size | DIY move | Partial packing | Full-service packing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 10 pyeong (studio) | ₩200K–400K | ₩300K–500K | ₩400K–600K |
| 10–20 pyeong | ₩350K–550K | ₩500K–750K | ₩600K–900K |
| 20–30 pyeong | ₩500K–750K | ₩700K–1.0M | ₩850K–1.3M |
| 30–40 pyeong | ₩700K–1.0M | ₩950K–1.35M | ₩1.2M–1.8M |
| 40 pyeong and up | ₩900K–1.3M | ₩1.2M–1.7M | ₩1.6M–2.3M |
On top of this, long-distance moves add distance freight, buildings without an elevator add a stair-carry fee, high floors add a ladder-lift cost, and spring/autumn peak season plus weekends and auspicious days add a surcharge. Each unit rate can change with the market, so they are separated as code constants (`// variable`); confirm the real quote with each company's in-home survey.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Is the moving cost from this calculator an exact amount?
No. This calculator gives a reference estimate based on typical Korean moving market rates for the home size, distance and move type. The real cost varies with the amount of belongings, floor level and elevator/ladder-lift access, crew size, peak season/weekends and the company, so always confirm with an in-home (on-site) survey.
What is the difference between full-service, partial and DIY moving?
With a DIY move you pack everything yourself and the company only transports. With partial packing the company packs fragile items such as dishes and the kitchen while you do the rest. With full-service packing the company handles packing, transport and unpacking, which costs the most.
How much does moving distance affect the cost?
A short move within the same city/district adds almost no distance cost, but a long-distance move (e.g. between a province and the capital area) adds freight based on driving distance, time and tolls. This calculator adds freight in proportion to distance.
How much does moving cost rise during peak season?
During the spring and autumn moving peak, auspicious "son-eomneun-nal" days and weekends, demand is high and cost tends to rise about 10–30%. This calculator applies roughly a 20% surcharge when the peak-season option is selected (subject to change).
Are there ways to reduce moving cost?
Reduce the amount of belongings by clearing out items in advance, avoid peak season, weekends and auspicious days, and compare in-home quotes from two or three companies. Doing some packing yourself with a partial-packing move also helps cut cost.
