MovingCalc is a free set of tools for moving in Korea: moving cost, moving volume (truck size) and a moving checklist.
Every calculation runs in your browser, and cost/truck results are provided transparently as market-based reference estimates.
What is MovingCalc
MovingCalc helps people facing a move quickly gauge the questions that feel overwhelming: "How much will it cost?", "What truck size do I need?", and "What should I prepare first?". It presents complex quote structures, volume and step-by-step preparation in a way anyone can understand, along with how each result is calculated.
Operating principles (E-E-A-T)
- Experience — we mirror the item structure used in real moving quotes (base cost, distance freight, work options, peak-season surcharge) and break results down item by item.
- Expertise — we calculate from common Korean moving benchmarks such as belongings by home size, truck loading volume by ton (1-ton ~5 m³, 2.5-ton ~12 m³, 5-ton ~22 m³) and average item volumes.
- Authoritativeness — administrative steps such as resident registration (within 14 days of moving) follow official guidance from Government24 and community service centers.
- Trustworthiness — we clearly note that cost/truck results are estimates and we publish the formulas. Inputs are not collected or stored.
Data and benchmarks
MovingCalc's cost rates, item volumes and truck capacities are estimates based on typical Korean moving market rates and standard volumes. Market rates vary by region, season and company, and they are separated inside the tools as constants (`// variable`) so they can be tuned to the latest benchmarks.
- Moving cost: home size (belongings) × move-type factor + distance freight + work options + peak-season surcharge.
- Moving volume: sum of per-item average volumes → truck recommendation allowing for loading efficiency.
- Checklist: a typical Korean moving process (D-30 to 14 days after the move) organized by stage.
About accuracy
All cost/truck results from MovingCalc are reference estimates based on your inputs and the published formulas. The real cost varies greatly with the amount and shape of belongings, floor level and elevator/ladder-lift access, crew size, peak season/weekends and the company. Always confirm the final amount with a mover's in-home (on-site) survey.
